I do not do this often, but should every weekend. But documenting the restoration of my Queen Anne falls aside when I get involved in whatever the project is for that day. I will try to remember to photograph the steps to replicating the moldings to be used in the master bedroom.

The molding pattern used here was created off the original from the house’s back parlor. All of the casings of this style were painted and for the master bedroom, I want the woodwork varnished. Therefore, I am making new moldings out of vertical grain fir (the house’s original molders are redwood). What we are making here will be the door and window casings for the room. Earlier, we made the picture rails. We still need to create the crown moldings as well.

This series of images include creating a straight edge on a fir plank before cutting the board on the table saw.
