My first shoot with Amber (Aca Mixedart A Adler). I first met her several months prior at Bizarre in downtown Los Angeles where she was working with Charly B. I loved the color and designs of her tattoos and wanted her to come to my studio to model. The primary purpose was to film her tattoos for the music video "Nasty Tattoos".
As the filming would not take long, I also asked her to bring an object that is emotionally significant to her, either very favorable of unfavorable. The object was a letter opener, that ties to a tattoo on her left arm that penetrates through a skull. This series is infrared. Although I normally convert these images to pure black & white, for Amber, the images felt that maintaining the blue of the infrared image should remain.
For those of you unfamiliar with digital infrared, I had my old Canon 1D converted to shoot only infrared for a trip I took to Botswana a few years ago. It has become my favorite portrait camera. The only disadvantage is that when the camera was converted, I had the company set the focus to match visible light at 100mm. This means that if I use a 100mm lens, looking through the lens to focus works. However, at different focal lengths, the focus my be off. Therefore, I need to "bracket" my focusing to get am image that is nailed. BTW, out of the camera, the sky is brownish red and blacks are usually blue.
For the cupid images, this was Amber's concept. As this shoot was TFCD, my offer is TFCD for my concept and I will shoot TFCD for the model's concept. Although Amber was expecting these images to be color, when she saw her infrared portraits, she decided the cupid images would look great as infrared as well. I totally agree with her decision!
